Final Day of Pre-Fishing – MWC World Walleye Championship
Today marked the final day of pre-fishing for the Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) World Championship. The morning started off crisp at 34°F, and once again, my ColdSnap Outdoors CS-ONE suit proved its worth in the cool temperatures. It’s been a staple all week, and days like this really show why I rely on it.
Unfortunately, we only made it about half the day on the water due to a minor electrical issue. The good news is, we got it fixed quickly and everything’s back to normal. The boat’s plugged in, batteries are charged, and all the JT Outdoor Products rods are tied and ready to roll. Confidence is high heading into the start of the championship tomorrow.
A Solid Week on the Water
Overall, it’s been a great week of pre-fishing. We’ve found a mix of fish, dialed in some productive spots, and built a plan that we feel good about. The weather’s calling for some high winds over the next few days, but most of the areas we plan to fish are well-protected. I don’t expect the wind to affect us much, although it may make things tougher for other teams.
The focus tomorrow is simple: get five fish in the box early, then spend the rest of the day upgrading. Each day we’re allowed a five-fish limit—two over 20 inches and three under—which gives us a bit of flexibility and confidence in building a solid bag.
The Conditions Ahead
One thing working in our favor is the moon phase. The full moon over the last few nights had fish feeding heavily at night, but now that it’s fading, they should begin biting more consistently during daylight hours. That could make a big difference in the next few days.
At tonight’s rules meeting, I talked with several other teams, and it sounds like the bite has been up and down for everyone. Based on how our pre-fishing went, I feel we’ve got a strong shot at a top-10 finish or better—if we can stay locked in and execute our plan.
Ready to Compete
It’s always exciting heading into a major event like this. There’s anticipation, strategy, and a little bit of nerves—but most importantly, there’s gratitude. No matter how it turns out, we’re here doing what we love—fishing, competing, and making memories.
We’ll find out how it all shakes out after day three, but either way, it’s going to be a great experience. Stay tuned for daily updates as the tournament unfolds—it’s go time.
