Day 1 – MWC World Walleye Championship (Alexandria, MN)
We wrapped up day one sitting in 10th place. We’ve got some work to do, but we’re still within striking distance if things come together tomorrow.
Today we weighed five fish, including one over at 21 inches — really needed two overs to make a big difference on the scales. Some of our pre-fishing spots didn’t produce the same way, likely due to pressure, but we’ve still got solid areas to pick up unders and will be hunting for those bigger bites in the morning.
My over today came on the JT Mag Light, which handled the presentation perfectly. After the tournament, I’ll put together a full blog breaking down the baits, techniques, and patterns that got it done.
Conditions were warmer with a little wind; tomorrow looks similar with less wind and some cloud cover. Hopefully that keeps the fish from feeding too much overnight. We just need to hit that right bite window and land the right ones.
The boat’s plugged in, rods are ready, and we’re fired up to go close that gap.
